If you want to achieve and maintain soft, silky skin naturally, the first step should be drybrushing. Drybrushing is a technique that removes dead skin and revitalizes nerve endings that in turn help you achieve and maintain soft, silky skin. What's even better is that the benefits of drybrushing goes much further than skin-deep. It has been compared to an "internal" massage because it increases the skin's blood circulation and starts the elimination of wastes through the lymphatic system. Your skin is the largest organ that has the function of eliminating
wastes and is one-fourth of the body's detoxification system.
Drybrushing helps your immune system by facilitating the removal of toxins from the body and allowing the skin to naturally breath. It also tones muscles and encourages a more even distribution of fat cells within the body. Although cellulite cannot be completely removed dry brushing does help lessen its external appearance.
Drybrushing
After a few weeks of dry brushing your skin will be able to absorb the oil(s) better and you will be able to apply more to the skin.
It is important to avoid using mineral oil. Many women use mineral oil to combat dryness which only clogs pores and prevents the skin from breathing and eliminating toxins.
Using mineral oil also causes more harm than good when used long term because the skin will become dependent on this substance and become chapped and dry when its use is stopped. If you are wanting to avoid mineral oil also look for liquid paraffin, paraffin wax, and petrolatum on labels which are other names used for this ingredient.

thighs, arms, torso and never brush your face or sensitive areas. Make sure you are brushing toward the heart and use circular counter-clockwise strokes on your abdomen. Use very light strokes when you begin. You may notice your skin feels sensitive to the brush.
In a few weeks as you continue this regime your skin will become more accustomed to dry brushing and be able to tolerate stronger strokes and it will feel great!
You can follow drybrushing with a bath or shower and if you are really enthusiastic and want to further stimulate your blood circulation, start with a hot/warm bath or shower and end with cold water. After drying off, you can rub down with pure plant oils such as olive, avocado, apricot, almond, sesame, or coconut. Make sure to go light when you begin using the oils. Your skin should not be oily.
A final note is to always use common sense and check with your dermatologist or doctor if you have any concerns. Do not dry brush if you are pregnant, suffer from a heart condition, have high blood pressure, diabetes, psoriasis, eczema, very sensitive or irritated skin, broken skin, rashes, wounds or infections.

You can find dry brushes at most health food stores. It should have soft, natural fibers (not synthetic) and a long handle that reaches all the areas of your body. You can start dry brushing once a day before bathing and make sure your skin is dry.
Brushing wet skin does not have the same effect as having dry skin. When your skin is wet brushing only serves to pull and stretch the skin. Start at the soles of your feet and work upward moving slowly to the ankles, calves,
